Rock Your Frock & Trash the Dress

A photographer friend of mine from Rockhampton who I worked with on a wedding last year (http://www.geoffreysinclair.com.au/) emailed me a few weeks ago to let me know their was to be a trash your dress workshop going on over there. Unfortunately I couldn't get there. I had seen this concept a few years ago and loved it. When Geoff emailed me, I decided that is was time to do something about it.

Wednesday morning, it was overcast and lovely so Sam and I decided its now or never with wedding season about to kick into overdrive.

Unfortunately, there would be no time for a model to do it, so I had to run home and get my Deb dress (Im saving my wedding dress for a proper shoot, when my husband could be in it)

And off we went. Im sure anyone that saw us that day must have been wondering what on earth we were doing, we even questioned if we lost our own minds!

I am going to be doing two types: Rock your frock (tame version) or the trash the dress (for those that are completely at ease with the possibility of ruining the dress). Lets face it, you buy the dress you wear it and it gets put away forever.

So, here is a few shots from the test shoot. I have a few volunteers already, and hopefully once we can get an entire portfolio of this happening, people might really start to want to do a shoot for themselves!

Happy looking and please dont laugh at my terrible modeling skills - I definately like BEHIND the camera

All the pictures were taken by Sam McGrath/Kellie Blinco Photography.

Next big gigantic event: Tannum Sands Formal

So planning has begun for the Tannum Sands Formal (well actually initial planning begun in April) but today Sam and I went to Sassy furniture to find something amazing for the formal pics. And I think we did. But I am keeping it all a secret so you can all be suprised in November :)

I think I will have fun doing the formal this year, doing a big event for the first time always seems
S C A R Y, but second time is great, cause you can anticipate the flow of things. And this year, I have lots of help for post production, so hopefully I wont have to pull all-nighters! (well atleast not more than one in a row!)

Sothertons Fashion Gala: by KELLIE

WOW. Where do I begin? This is such an amazing event, and I was thrilled to be apart of the entire experience. Being behind the scenes was exciting! Although I had my points of being frazzled, mainly due to not being able to see what lighting I was dealing with on the catwalk until the event started (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek), I myself, am a self confessed shop a holic (with a main love for shoes): Please just ask anyone about the shoe hierarchy I have in my wardrobe: manolos, gucci and dior up top, and all the boring ordinary shoes live down the bottom. So to be able to photograph the local gladstone girls and some of the beautiful DALLYS models, and the fashion all around, I was certainly in my element (although I was so busy working, I must admit, I didnt get to appreciate the fashion I was shooting until the dreaded downloading started) - with 4 shooters, it was a nightmare, and I think we shot somewhere around 50 gig worth - as you can imagine, only a portion made it to the final cut.

My favourite pics were the getting ready pictures backstage. It was DARK. There were a few spotties around the place, so we got heaps of dramatic light pics.

Definately a fav. This is Antionette, and I got this shot backstage while makeup was being done.

Kimberley Busteed who was the Ambassador for the event

Another favourite

Backstage in wardrobe, everyone was doing a great job, making sure things were where they needed to be (in near darkness mind you :D)

Kimberley again, getting make-up done. Love love the dramatic lighting

This is one of the pics on the runway. Megan, (DALLYS model) wearing Lisa Brown, this is the catagory that I sponsered, and wow, the silk dresses were incredibly stunning

SO, there are many many many pics to see, you can view on the website
www.kellieblincophotography.com.au
log in using: Sothertons and the password: sylista

I am sure that Sam, Gina and Robyn will also be keen to post more of their favs sooner or later too

Definately need to hand it to Tina, Steve and Judy they do an outstanding job, aswell as the other committee members. I am also donating $1 from each photo sale back to Tannum Sands Surf Lifesavers, who this years Sothertons Fashion Gala aided.

Jack's kids club pics by KELLIE

Jack & Katie

Jack

Jack is so obviously a rather cute subject! He didnt however like to stop in one place for too long, as most kids do not (well my two never do anyway!)

These images were the result of my studios kids club Thursday sitting, which we did at the gardens for Jack.

I know I say it soo often, but there is nothing better than available light!

Kirsty & Greg: Wedding Day by KELLIE

So, I have lagged in the blog department again, the studio has been so incredibly busy and I managed to sneak in some time off!

Back on the last weekend of June, I did Kirsty & Gregs wedding. They had beautiful ceremony at the gardens. Kirsty was quite the stunning bride and she was cool calm and collected the entire day.

Greg and the boys were also extremely relaxed, and you could definitely see how great Kirsty & Greg are together, and their marriage will be a long and happy one!

I have so many gorgeous images from there day, but Id like to share just a few with you here

Kirsty and her Dad. Quite an emotional morning for them all, it was so great to be apart of that and capture it for them

Kirsty was getting ready at Rydges and my gosh we fit alot of bodies in that room. Big Bonus, lots of gorgeous natural light :)

We (being Sam and I) went to the foyer area at rydges and grabbed a whole series of great shots with Kirsty and her bridesmaids

At the Gardens

The boys

The entire bridal party!

Kirsty and Greg were so FABULOUSLY fun to photography, definately naturals :)

This series are some of my favourites on the park bench

Doesnt Kirsty look just incredibly beautiful?

This shot is adorable

Thank you Kirsty & Greg, for sharing your wonderful day with us. I hope that these pics will remind you of everything the day meant to you both.
