Emma & Samuel: Wedding Day

Emma and Samuel were married on the 30th January and had a
Cedar Galleries Ceremony. The threat of the heavens opening up
was definately there, but thankfully, we just reaped the benefits of
some beautiful overcast weather and all managed to stay dry!
I am doing things a little backwards, I havent got the engagement
shots done yet, so I will post them next week hopefully.
Photobucket
Here is our extremely beautiful bride. Emma was really easy
to work with. We started with some candid indoors while she
got ready.
Photobucket
And here she is again in a nice black and white.
Photobucket
I looked out the window at one point and saw this beautiful
horse out there and we decided to go down to the fence and
try for something a little unique.
Photobucket
Samuel was waiting patiently when I arrived to Cedar Galleries
At this point, we like to only do candid and dont get involved in
the Grooms movements. We just try to photograph things as
they are, hopefully we can catch a moment here, usually it is
a look of anticipation. The bride usually appreciates these pics
as she wasn't there to see that.
Photobucket
Emma and her Dad getting ready for one of the most important
walks of Emma's life. This girl was cool as a cucumber. These
moments are my favourite during a wedding, being able to give
people the gift of memories in print, is exceptional. Without a
photographer who is able to accurately catch these moments, they
would eventually be forgotten. I firmly believe that a pic taken at
a perfect moment will always envoke those exact feelings you
had. Whats could be more amazing than that?
Photobucket
Emma & her Dad walking down the aisle. I love the Chapel at
Cedar Galleries. It is a quaint little chapel, but every wedding
I do out there, always has a deep feeling of forever. Maybe it
has something to do with the simplicity of the place, but I always
love photographing weddings here.

After the ceremony, we did only a few post Bridal shots at Cedar. The
last few times I have been to Cedar, this water level was way down.
If you remember Julie & Rhys and their engagement shots on this very
boat, you will see how much the water had come up since then. I would have
loved to have got Emma on the boat half in the water (trash the dress
style) but, most brides are not to keen for that on the wedding day!!
(wishful photographer thinking!!) As always, over complicated posing
is not my cup of tea with weddings. As always, its about putting my
couple in the position I want and getting real moments as much as
possible. Everyone wants some posed images ofcourse, but for the most
part, I try to "keep it real"
Photobucket
I have toned this pic slightly to remove some colour and give it a bit of
a different vibe.
Photobucket
Back in the Chapel for a quick moment on our way back to
Gladstone for the marina shots Emma & Sam wanted. This
shot was also toned differently - what do you guys think? I
have been playing a lot and feedback on some of this stuff
is always appreciated. Meanwhile, this cute couple didn't
need to much prompting to be adorable! And I might add it
was really hot and muggy at this point, so Emma was looking
forwards to the trip to town in the air con!
Photobucket
At the marina now, I like this shot. Usually I find this shot
boring. It is something that evryone loves to have in their
wedding pics, and every photographer does. As a photographer,
you do find clients have a list of "standard issue" wedding shots.
Even when I do things that I have done a million times before
I have to make everyones unique and different in some way.
Here I did it with the toning. And I rather like it.
My favourite shots during the post bridal session, as always,
are those that come last. The Marina shots.
Photobucket
Look at Em. She looks exceptional. She had lots of little
girls admiring her during these photos.
Photobucket
Showing of Emma's dress in a full length shot.
Photobucket
I adore this shot. I think it is Emma's amazing expression that
makes it wonderful.
Photobucket
and, kissing. Well it is their wedding day.
Photobucket
Very last light of the day.
Photobucket
And one last shot of Emma looking quite reflective on her big
day.
Being involved in weddings, still scares me. I still get butterflies
before every job, and I hope this never leaves me. I think the
butterflies mean, I want to make sure I do the best possible job
for my couples. While I know I can technically always deliver,
the butterflies come because I demand exceptional of myself and
couldn't live with medicore.
I am always thrilled and a little suprised inside when I look at
all my wedding bookings - thrilled because I love to be apart of it
and suprised because, I am just doing what I love doing, and to
have the books as full they are means I must be doing something
right. Even so, I will never rest at the level I am at with my
photography. Every day inspires me to do something different
and do it better.
Huge thanks to Emma & Samuel, quite possibly the most adorable
couple in the entire world.

My Boys

I have two boys, Baily (8) & Lachlan (4). Now as you can imagine, they have pretty
much spent their lives in front of the camera, so they are real performers. Sad face
for me. It is really difficult to get them naturally because, well when they see I have
the camera, they pull there silly faces. So I have options. Either sneak and catch
them out, or do the usual distraction techniques. Last weekend it was so hot and
rather than let them in the pool, I decided a good old fashioned sprinkler play would
be better for me so i could take a few pics of them, my business has been incredibly
busy of late, and I have not had a chance to get pics of my little guys.

After sprinkler play, I tried to get some others and while lachlan was reluctant, I
managed one of him and another of Baily

I really wanted to get something more natural again of Baily and he was groaning
because he didnt want to play my games (haha). It was Valentines day, so I started
asking him about who his girlfriend was (nawww) and I got this look. For the record
I promised I wouldn't tell anyone that he had a GF, so shhhhhh.

welcome to Lucy

Erin and James and big sister Ella came to the studio with their precious
new bundle, Lucy. I would like to share a few of their pics from the newborn
sitting they had
Photobucket
above: Lucy. In tears. Babies cry, and some of my favourite pics have been
the result of crying when it comes to newborns. The best thing about it is
they look like they are making a lot of noise, but the cute newborn cry is so
soft.

Photobucket

dotes on her baby sister.
Thank you James & Erin, was definately a pleasure to take these for you.

Kylie & Ruan: Maternity

Babies are such a special time for all parents. And while it
sounds cliche' it really is over far to quickly. Anyone who
has children knows this for a fact. I have found in my time
with the studio, that mums sometimes really want to record
the last trimester of their pregnancy with some pics. I wish
I had of done this! The thing that stopped me and possibly
stops most people is, being pregnant and feeling not so
glamourous. In hind sight, I wish I could have looked past
that, then maybe Id have some of those memories in
photo form now!
Early January, I had the pleasure of photographing
Ruan & Kylie. We did some location stuff and also
some studio stuff.
Photobucket
above: Kylie looks completely radiant! These lifestyle shots were
taken at the Marina.
Photobucket
above: Kylie & Ruan. Nothing could make for a nicer pic than
such a genuinely nice couple in love awaiting their bundle.
Photobucket
above: Kylie. Again with the mozzies!!!! We were attacked,
but you wouldn't know it, Kylie was really relaxed and
a gem to work with.

Won't be long and I will be posting pics of their gorgeous new little
one!

Baby Haven Shoots.

As a last minute thing, last year, I was invited to visit Baby Haven
in Gladstone, for 2 days worth of mini shoots. I am not going to
lie. This was a tough gig. I have new admiration for photographers
taking santa photo's in shopping centres. All the kids were gorgeous,
but shooting in an environment that was filled with fun things to
play with - fun child distracting things - was a challenge. As well
as not having privacy where we can attempt to get the childs
attention. With the added bonus of other kids wondering
around shopping... it was definately one of the hardest two days
I have ever spent in my photographic career. Lucky for me all the
children were cute as buttons and I had my handy little posing
box down there!
There were way too many to possibly post one of all of them, but I have
picked my top 5 to share. I also choose not to go with to many christmas
type props, as I am not that way inclined. We did have some baubles and
a few santa hats, but that was the extent of it. You will see be the 5
favs that they are not xmas themed in the slightest.
Please enjoy!

The Scurr Family: All in one place at the same time!

After chrissy, I took some shots of family, who all live apart. Tash & Justin and their
little boy Logan (my handsome godson) and Justins brother Brendan, and fiance
Amanda, have a little girl Tatum. These two cute cousins are born only about 8
weeks apart, but while Tash and Justin live here, Brendan and Amanda live in
Darwin. So you can see why it was important to get some shots of the two cute
cousins together!
Photobucket
above: Tatum looking all cute in her studio shots. She loved being in front of
the camera! While I got a lot of her looking at the camera, this one is
still my favourite, it pulls on the heart strings for some reason.

done at the marina

that worked out well for his first grandbabies!

cute is my godson?

Lisa & Jess

Lisa got a shoot for a birthday gift. She got a few glam style
shots and also wanted some with her daughter, Jess. The girls had their hair and make up done by Amy Sorensen, who happens to be my crazy sister, and a super
talent with styling hair & make-up. I would like to share a few
shots with you

Photobucket

I hope the girls had a fun morning!
